First meeting with our collaborators Ella and Karen from the Manchester Histories Festival. We discussed potential ideas and requirements for the Soapbox design with a particular emphasis on the Histories Festival themes of protest, democracy and freedom of speech. Key requirements were a means of amplification for the speaker, dimension in terms of how many people might be using the platform at one time and accessibility. There may also be the opportunity to collaborate with MMU illustration students who may be designing a logo for the event.

We also visited the site for the Soapbox in All Saints Parks which will not only host our Soapbox design but a CND structure and an area for posters to be displayed. We discussed the overall masterplan of the park and how our design might fit in with how the park is decorated for the festival.
