Students exploring their newly modelled 3D buildings in Virtual Reality.
Posted 29 Mar 2017 13:45
Today we starting bring all models into one group model in Unity. Test walkthrough the part of the model. We are currently working on developing convincing streetscape and atmosphere.
Posted 29 Mar 2017 12:56
In addition to creating building models we have created series of props to populate the street scapes. These props are essential for creating convincing and interactive virtual environments.
Posted 29 Mar 2017 12:54
During this event Year 1 & 2 students developed a working knowledge of 3ds Max and Unity as well as improved their Sketch Up skills. They have also learnt some useful techniques and workflows of how to model their designs.

Translating conceptual sketches into 3D models in 3ds Max or Sketch Up. Year 1 & 2 students developing 3D models individually in preparation to put them together in Unity to create VR game.

Final group outcome from the drawing workshop with Phil Watson. Everyone had a piece of the site that they explore through drawing non-object driven architectures. All of the conceptual sketches than be montaged together to create an abstract representation of our site.

Day 2! Morning introduction presentation from DLA Architects!

Today we have analysed our proposed site for the interactive model in Strangeways, North Manchester. We have identified the interactive zone (hatch) & series of plots (yellow) to be designed and modelled individually to suit our future scenario. This approach allows all of the participants to work towards the final model collectively.

In our event we propose to create an interactive 3D model of North Manchester. Based on our current ecological urbanism research in CPU atelier we create a speculative future scenario where natural environment has taken over the built form. We will explore this concept through our interactive model. Today we did a precedent study on similar post-apocalypitic environments.

3ds Max: http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/3ds-max

Sketch up: https://www.sketchup.com

Photoshop: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop.html

More information will follow shortly. See you all on Monday.
