Our feedback from last week was to try and do a dry joint in the tripod stool. That means working the timber to make the fit as perfect as possible, otherwise it'll fall apart. Wait and see the finished thing!

Everyone's designs are really starting to progress. Stalls are in mass production in preparation for Fridays show.

Andrea sat on the end result of today's work. The first stool is almost ready, we'll get started on the next one in the morning!

Michael and Viktoria are working hard on their superb hammock chair. The white oak is proving tough to work with, being a hard wood, but we're getting there with it!

We chose what we thought would be a simplistic elegant design for the stool. It turns out it's quite complicated, the joint is called a tripod burr and is a bit of a puzzle. Here's a maquette we made to help keep track of where to cut on the real deal.

Calm before the storm in B15 this morning. Lots of furniture to be made today with two events groups filling it out.

Looking forward to turning these scale models into the final things by the end of the week. Another busy day ahead in B15 tomorrow to make it happen!

We listened carefully to our collaborators, Ralph Cappers, feedback last week and have worked hard today in the workshop to progress our designs. As always, we're hitting a few obstacles along the way but that's the creative process!

1:1 Prototype are really starting to come on. Everyone is starting to get excited to present the chairs at Ralph Cappers.

This morning we've started making our final prototype. Three of the designs are using the CNC machine to precisely cut out parts for the chairs.

One of our first years, Hayley, being taught how to do a dowel joint, to test the effectiveness of it for the 3 legged stool.

The girls finished figuring out the complicated weave of the hammock chair on Friday. Materials, joins and weaves are now known which means they're ready to go on Monday morning... 1:1 here we come!

Great first week! Every group has managed to produce a 1:3 or 1:2 scale prototype model. Looking forward to building the 1:1 prototypes next week.

A pin up of our individual chair designs on Monday. We did 3 drawings each, timed to 10 minutes, then 30 and finally an hour. We had some impressive ideas all round that have lead to some great group designs.

It may only be half a chair, but it's perfectly proportioned and made to scale!

Following our trip to Ralph Cappers furniture showroom yesterday we have started to refine designs and make small scale models.

This afternoon we visited Ralph Cappers for a look at some designer chairs for some inspiration.
