Group 16 The Civic Quarter's New Identity
Agenda// We will work closely with collaborators on the Our Town Hall project, looking specifically at the connection between public spaces like Albert Square and the Civic Quarter of Manchester. This project extends beyond the town hall itself and includes a number of squares and public spaces around the city centre. The aim is to strengthen the link between the spaces by creating an overarching concept which brings continuity and identity to the Civic Quarter area in a similar way to the Northern Quarter. Students will work inside the town hall alongside collaborators and their work will be exhibited by the city council at the end of the project. // Download Poster

Here are a few words about me: I am currently completing my masters degree and I am a huge art enthusiast, and any other creative medium as such. I especially like Neo-futurism and the Brutalist movement. However, I truly admire Gothic architecture and therefore my favourite building is Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

OH OK WORKSHOP//
Great news! We have managed to secure a space in the 'Plant' workshops run by Oh Ok. We will be using this space during the events weeks to produce a model of our final proposal.

EVENT PLANNING SESSION// Initial planning is underway for the event in preparation for our meeting with the Town Hall team. We discussed potential project outcomes, researched the civic quarter and negotiated workshop use.

FIFTH YEARS MANCHESTER TOWN HALL TOUR// A glimpse inside the Manchester Town Hall. The building is currently closed for building work but we are lucky enough to be working inside during the project.

ORGANISATIONAL MEETING WITH THE TOWN HALL// Looking down onto Albert Square through the original windows of Manchester Town Hall. This also happens to be one of the rooms secured in partnership with the town hall for us to work in during the events weeks. We will work alongside three other events groups on the project in these spaces. Albert Square is the epicentre of our particular project so check it out when you can.
