Some of the design team are currently putting together a document for the client that will show all of the design process and ideas that were involved with the Soapbox. Other members of the design team are finishing of the construction manual.

The final structural component (timber bracing) is being fitted. Hopefully with all of the decretive elements and roof it will start to come to life.

The coach screws that fix the stud 'wings' to the pallet base line up perfectly.

All components are now on site and we are waiting for our collaborators to arrive so they can watch how it is assembled.

The Soapbox is being transported over to site before the engineers come and inspect in later on today. The structure is complete so if everything goes as planned we can start adding the decorative elements that our design team have been working on.

The base is complete and the pallets have been reinforced with more timber. The stud 'wings' are now ready to be fixed to the base.

The test run of the base went smoothly. The ply has been fixed to the pallets however minor amendments will need to be made tomorrow to ensure the platform is level.

The design team are working in two teams today. One team is working on the pallet connection system whilst the other works on measuring and cutting the plywood that will be fixed to the pallets.

Brackets have been added to add stability and rigidness to the 'wings'. 60 angled brackets have been fitted so far! A few more to go...

The remainder of the materials arrived this morning and work began on the second of the two stud 'wings'.

So far all of our measurements are correct and everything is fitting together as planned.

I think we need a bigger car.

Thankfully we were able to get them delivered the following day instead! The majority of the materials have arrived and the remaining are on schedule to arrive tomorrow.

The students have been split into two groups. One half of the team will be constructing the Soapbox whilst the other half will be putting together a construction manual and leading the design for the perspex panels.

Making the most of the rare Manchester sun and checking the Sketchup model before construction starts tomorrow.

Some final preparation before we start the build! This afternoon we met with our collaborator and took the pallets over to the site to ensure they were happy with the proposed location for the Soapbox.

Hi group 12!

After meeting with our collaborators last week and visiting the site we have started brain storming initial design ideas for the Soapbox.

It is now the time to start thinking about what this soapbox may be? Will it be physical? will it be virtual?

We want you to help us - We want your ideas!

We are currently in the process of organising a design session where we can discuss these ideas to see what's feasible. We will be discussing these ideas with our collaborators to ensure we meet all requirements from their behalf.

We will be posting some precedents on this blog to hopefully get your creative minds going but feel free to send us your ideas via email!
