SUGDEN SPORTS CENTRE//
Exciting meetings and discussions with Marc Valentine (duty manager at SSC) have led us to book various activities for the body and mind during events week for our team. We aim to challenge ideas of the Architect in practice - is the best way to promote creativity sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end?
Through these scheduled activities, we stimulate a healthier wellbeing, stronger team bonds, and thus an increasingly optimised output.

THIS IS NOT A BALL//

'This Is Not A Ball' (2014) is a documentary depicting two works of Brazillian artist Vik Muniz.
The notions presented through this medium truly capture the essence of our proposed intervention. By comparing sport, in this case football, to a universal language such as math, we are able to clearly realise the inclusivity of participation sport can bring.
The stories of two of his works, one in Rio de Janeiro favela, the other in Mexico City’s gargantuan Azteca Stadium, are depicted through a series of individual stories, touching on socio-political and historical issues that surround sport, and society on a wider scale. The ball therefore becomes a concept as well as an object.
'Relive[66]' aims to encapsulate these issues in a similar way; through the use of recycled materials, methods of participation - channeled through sport. We propose to include sporting activities during the design process, to maintain a flow of creativity to maximum effect.
