Atelier: Re_Map

Last week was started by meeting with Tom & Harald, researching Wittgenstien's ideas on Logic & preparing the Hut components for our models

We started making our kite today using bamboo sticks as "main" material and reinforcing the whole structure with the thread. We also decided on what type and colour of fabric we will use. The only thing that is left for tomorrow is stitching the fabric to the kite so we can try to fly it on Thursday.

We spend Monday on designing our kite and making a prototype that we later tried to fly. We had to change the design few times to make it fly properly.

Starting point for our kite, The construction of frame

Yesterday, we made a test model of the kite and tested it.

Successful week last week making our model, excited to move on to the kites this week.

On Friday we presented our work to Tom and Harald, who gave us their feedback on our ideas
Posted 18 May 2015 22:47
After cutting the pieces we set about making our model, taking inspiration from Wittgenstein's time in Manchester.

Final review with Prof Tom Jefferies & Harald Røstvik, presenting our ideas and discussing possible ways of improving the design.
Posted 15 May 2015 11:33
After spending the whole morning reassembling our model, in the afternoon, we presented our final results and discussed our designs.

Day 4 - Discussions on working reconstructions
Posted 14 May 2015 20:54
Day 4 - We were working on the Model for the whole day and we are nearly done. We had a short presentation with Proff Tom Jefferies and Harald, and they suggested us to play with the patterns by breaking it and reconstruct it until the point we can't proceed.
Posted 14 May 2015 18:53
Day 2 & 3- We got all the pieces cut out and sprayed paint it. We had discussed our rough idea with Harold.
Posted 14 May 2015 18:48
Day 1- Introduction. I was placed in the Reason group.
Posted 14 May 2015 18:41
After all the components were cut and coloured (white- original hut materials, blue -house extension materials) we had a meeting with Harald Røstvik to discuss our ideas. Soon after that we began constructing the model.

After the Laser cut we spray painted the components of the hut
Posted 14 May 2015 08:53
The rest of the afternoon we've spend on discussing our ideas and reassembling our models.

In the morning we continued spraying the rest of the parts for our future model of the hut.

Day 3 - Fragmented Hut
Posted 13 May 2015 10:52
Laser cutting done!
Second day of Events week we've spent on laser cutting the parts for Wittgenstein's hut that we will later have to redesign and reassembly using these (existing) pieces of the façade.
After the laser cut we spray-painted all the bits for our future model: we used white paint to mark all the previously existing parts of the hut and blue to designate the extended segment of the building.

Laser cutting the pieces, ready to make our model reinterpreting Wittgenstein's hut tomorrow!

Day 2 - Wittgenstein's hut ready to laser cut
Posted 12 May 2015 18:09
Today our group laser cut the components for the model and discussed on the various ways to approach the new design.
Posted 12 May 2015 16:30
Spray!!!!
Posted 12 May 2015 14:27
After laser cutting, the discussions on design begin. How do you redesign, re-work, appropriate something that existed in the past? Using Wittgenstein's areas of study the students will work up new iterations of the hut!
