Our performance would be a video showing our hands assembling the model in a dark background. We taped black paper on the walls of a room, creating the background. We filmed the assembly of model twice on different angle to give two different vision.

Replaced the floors and columns with MDF boards, our model looked a lot more stable and rigid. We spray painted it white to avoid too many colours overwhelming other features in the plan.

The next day we started to build our walls out of foam board with plaster mounted on. The product was satisfying. We decided to put plaster on the all of the walls except for the staircase and light tube which punches through the whole building vertically.

Being split into smaller groups at the end of the last session, we began to develop idea for the video as our group performance. The idea of our group was to create a building model representing Le Corbusier, emphasizing his use of contrast in various aspects. Sticking with the theme, we made models to test out materials and capability to present various forms of contrast.

Today we all brought in materials to make test models for the extruded walls. Our initial idea was to use fabric stretched out and fixed on vertical poles. But then we found it did not give much stability as expected. We then started to test on other materials.

Our event, Performing Architecture, had the first session on 13th May. Our fifth year coordinators showed us a short film about the life of Le Corbusier. After having a brief introduction to his life, we started a group discussion about what we wanted to produce for our performance.

At the end of the day, we decided to make a model of a building incorporating the 5 elements of Le Corbusier's buildings, with three of his paintings as our building plan. By extruding lines and planes from the paintings, we aimed to create rooms and circulation out of the paintings.

Our performance at the end would be a short film showing how we assemble the model, and how the floors transform into individual paintings.
