Our ideas culminated in the projection of 6 transgressive themes onto different sized hanging pieces of paper with the projector concealed beneath a chair in the corner of the room. It added interest to an otherwise unused space and encouraged movement through the area rather than around it. It proved to be very interactive with passers-by.

For the last session,we asked by our 5th year leader to reassembly our installation ,to experiment a little bit more, and record all the actions taken,in order to create a quick video clip. The final result was really good as we achieved what we try to exhibit.
Posted 22 May 2015 13:24
People engaging with the installation.
The installation sparked curiosity amongst people who walked through the site and were keen to know how we did the projection.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:44
This image shows what the final product looked like. This is what i was looking forward to since the start of the events project. It amazes me what we can produce in such as short amount of time. I am happy to say that I enjoyed the project a lot and met some interesting people in the process.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:39
This is the before and after image depicting the emptiness of space and after with the panels which gives it a a sense purpose. Adding to that the images, projected on the panels, are meant to be provocative and perhaps engage question and ways of thinking.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:37
On the day the set up was fairly quick. There was a few problems with the software but they were on small. Unknowingly we split into teams. There was me and Krasimir working on the model. There was Simeon and Andy on the laptops setting up the projector and Cvetomila was taking the photos and videos. On the day I think we worked well together.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:36
Testing the limit of the software. In this image we are trying to fit the animation on the body and check if the image bends so that it appears to part of the human figure.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:33
This image shows how the software works on the laptop. Using it we were able to adjust each panel to fit onto the sculpture.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:20
We wanted to make sure that the interactive aspect from our previous idea was incorporated into our new idea. We did this by adding a couple of live camera feeds so that the public could become part of our sculpture.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:19
We all decided to just make a few different sized blocks and put them together into some sort of structure. After adjusting the blocks and rearranging them a few times we ended with the structure shown in the image.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:15
Once we had got to grips with the software we started to discuss what we all would like to see in the videos and what the model that we want to project on should look like. We pitched a few ideas to each other but we all agreed that it should still be interactive in some way.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:12
Here we were looking at how the idea would work and how it would look. We started to project different effects and videos on to a simple block and realised that the software was simple to use.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:09
At this point we had decided to change the idea a bit. This was due to the fact that we had starting experimenting with the projectors and we thought that we need to make it different and more unique. This is where we came up with the idea of having multiple projections projecting on to one model. This is where we started to play around with the new software called vpt.

On Thrusday ( 21.05) We met for last time before the presentations to set up our instalation on the site ( under the stairs of Benzie Building on the Ground floor). Once we isntalled it we were pleased to see that the instalation was working and the people were actually interacting with it.
Posted 22 May 2015 09:14
On Wednesday ( 20.05) we met again to sort out the final design of our instalation, what exactly we are going to project, and to set it up one last time as well as experiment with what other materials we could use as surfaces for projecting. We also came up with the idea of having two extra cubes hanging from above to enhance our scheme.
Posted 22 May 2015 09:11
Lunch time traffic produced a lot of visitors to the event's site and only positive comments.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:27
Finalising the build and using tracking effects on the webcam to see reactions of people.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:26
Experimenting with After effects to use mapping to get it onto a cube.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:24
Testing out software for projection tracking and mapping and fixing compatibility issues with the program.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:17
The use of black tissue paper can create the best environment for the projection and still situate it in a well lit environment and so can still function for its purpose.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:16
A idea of using the flow of people to interact with the installation in the middle, thus relating to transgression. It explores the peoples behaviour through the use of webcam.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:14
Idea of stackable cubes creating perpendicular planes to place videos which will create a effect on the viewer. This can be with videos or live streams
Posted 22 May 2015 05:12
Different possibilities to use the projects overhead or angled from a stand, or horizontal only a wall. Using with a mirror can increase the flexibility of use of the projector.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:06
Scouting possible locations around MSA building, with the same dark lit flat white coloured backgrounds for projection to be placed.
Posted 22 May 2015 05:00
First meeting and brainstorming the possibilities with projectors and projection mapping. Ideas with different variations of shapes and tracking.
Posted 22 May 2015 04:59
The end result was an interactive projection of different images/animations of our assign topics on screens which were at different heights and distances from the projector.

Posted 22 May 2015 04:27
Finshed installation.
Posted 22 May 2015 04:27
Fifth floor; Making final installation of the screens that will be projected onto.
Posted 22 May 2015 04:06
First test of our idea on an actual projector was a success that we even had time to play around a little with the software.
Posted 22 May 2015 04:03
Time was running out and our proposed site has not yet been approved, so, we secured a backup space in the ‘shed’ while we waited.
Posted 22 May 2015 04:01
Cutting mounting board which was to be used as frames in the final installation.
Posted 22 May 2015 03:59
Each group presenting their ideas/proposals to the 5th years.
Posted 22 May 2015 03:49
Discussing and making research of our assigned topics.
Posted 22 May 2015 03:48
Third floor Chatham; here was the space we chose for our final installation. We took measurements, discuss and shared ideas of what to do with the space.
Posted 22 May 2015 03:48
The first session was mainly introduction of what we will be doing for the events. We were split into groups which comprised of both first and second year students.
Posted 22 May 2015 03:46
We finished our project on Thursday. We had everything set up from the day before and all we needed to do was project our videos/ animations/ images on the panels. The final product represents an assembly of visualizations on five different topics, each topic being represented on 3 to 5 panels.
Posted 22 May 2015 01:00
We set up what we needed for the project on Wednesday.
Posted 22 May 2015 00:59
On Tuesday we experimented with some software which allows us to project multiple videos at a time, in different places. Each member chose a theme relating to architecture which could be expressed visually.
Posted 22 May 2015 00:59
On our last session we were able to exhibit our work on ground floor of Chatham. We projected the videos we made as well as live feed from a video camera. We observed people's reactions and how they interacted with the space
Posted 21 May 2015 22:21
On 20/05 we shoot some videos around Chatham which we wanted to project on our installation. We needed at least 8 videos for each face of the cubes. We were filming that day the movement of people around Chatham in different time of the day then we made a compilation using 'IMovie' and ' MovieMaker'
Posted 21 May 2015 21:16
-21.5- today we tried tow projector and it look amazing!
Posted 21 May 2015 16:59
It was time to test out the projection mapping.Using different sequence of rotating optical illusion videos we test out our installation. The result was quite good.we was really satisfied as a team.
Posted 21 May 2015 01:32
After experiment with the projector in a white wall and collect all together. We decide to went to our site and start set up everything to test our installation .The site was quite bright so we bought black fabric ,which placed on the site of the staircase to block the light. This decision made because of the projector mapping.
Posted 21 May 2015 01:23
The basic problem of our idea, was the materiality. We was thinking what materials we are going to use to project on it .So we took some samples and by projecting on it we had a look if was working. After deciding on the fabric choice,we continiue by buying fabric and preparing the different pieces.
Posted 21 May 2015 01:09
After we received our first feedback ,we start thinking if our final idea is going to work and how efficient it is. Through a discussion between the group we decide to use the negative space of the staircase. The specific site it was much more suitable for ours concept. There will be five layers with square holes and these holes can guide people focus on the final layer. On the final layer we will present a video.
Posted 21 May 2015 00:54
Our group’s final idea was the staircase ,which connect the ground floor with the first floor. We choose the specific site, because we wanted people ,how use the building experiment our installation.A projection which is going to project in the surface of the staircase, it would effect the peoples movement. The next day we had a tutorial with our leaders. The feedback we took was really useful as we could progress and develop our ideas further.
Posted 21 May 2015 00:40
The second day of our group meeting,We start looking for site in ours school’s building .In order to lead at the final idea,We were drawing many sketches and diagrams.
Posted 21 May 2015 00:25
Our group members are taking photos and videos of our process .
Posted 20 May 2015 18:02
A few projection videos we tested on the white cloths hanging in our site.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:58
We tried to tie up everything and experiment on how to set up the cloths and try out the projection mapping onto our site.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:57
The site chosen by our group is the area behind stairs because that space is not being used and also can be easily seen by the people sitting at benches in cafe area. As the site is quite bright, it would be difficult to see the projections. Hence, we decided to put black cloths at both sides to block out the sunlight coming from buildings' glazing.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:56
After deciding on the cloth choice, we carry on by buying the cloths and cutting hole on it, with holes in the middle rotating and becoming small in sizes in different layers.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:50
Our final idea is to do projection mapping onto few layers of cloths. Therefore, we bought some samples of thin white cloths and experiment with the projectors to see if it works alright.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:49
Presentation of a few of our ideas to the fifth years. After presentation, they told us to decide on a final idea and work on it by find some precedents and find out how to carry it out.
Posted 20 May 2015 17:48
Using mount board, we quickly built some white cubes that we then projected onto. We were able to project a live feed from a video camera and a webcam.
Posted 20 May 2015 16:52
VLT is the projection mapping software we found to use. We spent a few hours experimenting with the software and teaching ourselves how to use it as well as learning the limitations of the software.
Posted 20 May 2015 16:50
The early part of the second week of events was spent getting to grip with the projectors, webcams and other technologies required to create the installation. We worked out the ideal surfaces to project onto as well as ideal lighting requirements.
Posted 20 May 2015 16:50
We now had access to projectors and began working out the technicalities of the project. We soon got it up and running with the correct cables and accesories
Posted 20 May 2015 16:48
Our chosen site on the third floor, whilst an interactive but not overcrowded space, was not able to support an installation of the kind of size and complexity we were dealing with as some of the elements would have caused an obstruction and been in breach of health and safety. We had a look at other locations, particularly in the Shed, but in the end decided on a different space in Chatham.
Posted 20 May 2015 16:42
These photos show the experiments of different projections we carried out to see what works best.
Posted 20 May 2015 15:26
In the last couple of days we have managed to instal and test out the final project. This process showed us the idea works better than expected!
Posted 20 May 2015 15:24
-16.5- we found the right material for fabrication and it is transparent.
Posted 19 May 2015 23:47
-19.5-We've tested all things and it looked great !
Posted 19 May 2015 23:43
On our next session we started experimenting with projection mapping on a box that we found in our studio room. After we explored how the VPT software works we created our own shape on which to project. The next step was discussing what videos to project. We decided to make short movies of circulation in Chatham and Benzie buildings. We also managed to create a live stream video in order to make our installation interactive
Posted 19 May 2015 18:25
I decided to move onto the use of lego to keep up a continue quality of the image. I used the same set design as i did for my drawings an the slightly moved each figure to produce a short animation taking about 250 photographs.
Posted 19 May 2015 12:04
We decided to chose 5 subjects and then produce/find 6 videos that relate to the subject. Mine was technology and i wanted to look at the possibility of stop motion animation. this was one of the frames that I drew.
Posted 19 May 2015 12:02
this was an initial idea that i had for the projection. The idea was to project onto the bridge with white cloth on the outside and then to animate as people walked past by extruding the beams using aftereffects. I decided to not push this idea as it was too bright and too complex in such a small time frame.
Posted 19 May 2015 12:01
This was the location that we chose to project our final idea. we decided to use this space as it is passed by students on a fairly regular basis and is slightly out of the way allowing us to create a piece of installation here.
Posted 19 May 2015 11:59
We got to experiment with the projectors on Monday after lunch.
Posted 19 May 2015 01:20
We presented our final ideas and went on to analyse possible sites.
Posted 19 May 2015 01:19
On Monday (18.05) we started with each group presenting our work so far. After we looked at more precedents our group finalized our idea as we decided to project different videos on each plane of a composition of boxes creating the effect of transgression. After watching some tutorials we built up the composition and started experimenting with the projector and the boxes projecting different videos. After we learnt how to use the software we started recording our own videos showing the movement in different spaces in Chatham.
Posted 19 May 2015 01:03
The third session on Friday (15.05) was drop in session. After having our tutorial with the coordinators we changed our idea and instead of projecting people`s footsteps and at the same time projecting live stream their actions for them and the people around to see and have fun we decided to make it more interacting by projecting a game that people would be able to play on the floor like a touch screen and at the same time still projecting their reactions.
Posted 19 May 2015 00:52
On Wednesday (13.05) all groups presented their ideas. As our group had a few we managed to narrow it down to 1 and after the presentations we continued working to develop our design.
Posted 19 May 2015 00:42
This is an image from one of the groups projector trial. Here we saw how the projector works and realised that there is so much you can do with this software. In a way this is a medium which can creatively convey the message or a project. Today seeing the a group testing their idea gave us the green light to how we can pursue our idea.
Posted 19 May 2015 00:32
After we made a presentation on how we could realise our proposal we decided to get together and collect our work to finalise it. This will then be used to project it on the chosen site.
Posted 19 May 2015 00:28
-15.5-we thought about how to place the projectors.
Posted 18 May 2015 11:55
Today we presented our final idea and made final adjustments for the concept to work. We are now up to the point where we can start experimenting with ideas and materials.
Posted 18 May 2015 11:48
We started implementing our ideas on day 5. The first step was to visit the mmu book binding workshop and to use the guillotine to cut mount board frames for our project.
Posted 16 May 2015 00:51
Cutting material which will be used for our project.
Posted 15 May 2015 23:35
We had a couple of objectives to complete today. The first one was making or finding some sort of animation software which interacts with real-time videos. In the image I have shown the software that we have found and how it interacts with use in the real-time video.
