Atelier: CiA, USE

Day 3 - We had to display our analysis of the site then our proposals for the site. Within our group we had the ideas of re creating the bomb:
1- By hanging objects of the ruined church off a steel truss system
2- Exploded objects out laid through out the church (^Above)
3- A protective net/web that creates a protective wrap around the church (chosen one)

Design Concept: Organic Destruction versus Anthropic Destruction. This image was created to sum up the design concept that was forming at the early stages of the project. It features the poppy flower which is a symbol of sleep, peace and death as well as the symbol of Remembrance Day in the Western World. In Classical Mythology, the bright scarlet color signifies a promise of resurrection after death. This linked well with the idea of resurrecting the ruin with the use of life and nature. This concept developed further to include an annual war memorial day which would take place on the site around early spring during the celebration of VE Day.

Day 1-
A site Visit to Saint Luke's Church in Liverpool allowed us to begin compiling various data for our site analysis. Through photographs, sketches and sound recordings, we gathered data which we could use to help us with the design of the intervention. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJQj3RdfWQs t

Day 2: Today's meeting started off with each individuals sharing their initial concept (image at top and bottom left showing mine), then four categories of approach to the memorial intervention were named. We then made our choices of groups to get into according our interests. Jobs were also delegated to each group to carry out research, site analysis and context studies.
