This is the before and after image depicting the emptiness of space and after with the panels which gives it a a sense purpose. Adding to that the images, projected on the panels, are meant to be provocative and perhaps engage question and ways of thinking.

On the day the set up was fairly quick. There was a few problems with the software but they were on small. Unknowingly we split into teams. There was me and Krasimir working on the model. There was Simeon and Andy on the laptops setting up the projector and Cvetomila was taking the photos and videos. On the day I think we worked well together.

After coming up with a concept to showcase the different architectural and community changes after the stages of CPO, we decided on an interactive model to showcase that and proceeded with laser cutting the four different architectural facades that represent the different stages.

DAY - 2

Day 2 we met up and decided that we would spend the rest of the day and morning of Wednesday coming up with our own individual ideas and schemes. I spent the afternoon in studios with Rosa and Elliot working together and bouncing ideas off each other, until I reached my own conclusion.

Day 4

As the event was film based it was imperative that we had a basic knowledge of some film editing software. The morning of day 4 was spent learning Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
In the Afternoon former Dogs of Heaven member Michael Mayhew facilitated a workshop. He began by exploring the role of the crescents in Manchester, describing it as "the groin area" in an analogy where he likened Manchester to the human body.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:25
Final installation. The project was very successful and served its purpose of creating an interactive and playful space. The cubes created an intermit and playful area that stopped people in the street who were interested in the project and keen to get involved.

LEAFLET

"You still fight it, but you don’t win. You can’t.”

“Apparently this kind of regeneration is happening all over, in Germany, Holland, France…the same sort of thing.”

Posted 22 May 2015 12:19
Day 2
We also visited each of the three potential sites that we could choose from where we would later display our corsets. We decided to work with the Drama department in order to target the attention from the drama students
Posted 22 May 2015 12:19
We wanted to make sure that the interactive aspect from our previous idea was incorporated into our new idea. We did this by adding a couple of live camera feeds so that the public could become part of our sculpture.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:19
Day Five - We had a visit from Jim Chapman and presented our designs, he gave feedback on our projects. We then spent the afternoon putting our final visual together.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:18
Day 2
We visited the special collections to view the five artefacts that we could choose from. After a brief talk about each one our group decided to go for the Vivienne Westwood 1980's Corsets.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:16
We all decided to just make a few different sized blocks and put them together into some sort of structure. After adjusting the blocks and rearranging them a few times we ended with the structure shown in the image.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:15
DAY - 1

Day 1 was just spent learning each others names and getting to know the other members of the group. Very little was done, of which even less was productive. But we did set up a plan for the rest of the week and decide upon what we would get up to in terms of development!
Posted 22 May 2015 12:15
As we set up our installation, a reporter from Manchester Evening News came and interviewed me about our event. It was great to get Media interest, and to spread the word of our event.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:14
Day 2- We created a scenario for our future transport based on the movies we have watched. I based my scenario on the movie 'DREDD' and incorporated the idea of justice.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:12
Once we had got to grips with the software we started to discuss what we all would like to see in the videos and what the model that we want to project on should look like. We pitched a few ideas to each other but we all agreed that it should still be interactive in some way.

FINISHED PRODUCT

Ultimately, our group achieved a successful outcome, but to improve the process, we perhaps needed a chairperson to help encourage cooperation when tasks were being shared out.

Here is the finished product! :)

8// Linking the animation to specific sounds in the recording and rendering them so that they respond accordingly. We had to identify the exact sounds that we wanted to put into the animation otherwise the spheres would not react as well (there was a lot of background noise before we cleared it up)
Posted 22 May 2015 12:09
precedents sheet, my aim was to create a labyrinth - to block people s way
Posted 22 May 2015 12:09
Here we were looking at how the idea would work and how it would look. We started to project different effects and videos on to a simple block and realised that the software was simple to use.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:09
I like the ideas of using simple material such as cigaratte to make a very different art work.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:09
At this point we had decided to change the idea a bit. This was due to the fact that we had starting experimenting with the projectors and we thought that we need to make it different and more unique. This is where we came up with the idea of having multiple projections projecting on to one model. This is where we started to play around with the new software called vpt.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:07
This image was taken in Whitworth art gallery. This image is showing environment. The idea is greta. i love the idea of using water for reflection.
Posted 22 May 2015 12:07
This image was taken in Whitworth art gallery. i found this work very interesting because how the lighting works and how it created shadows. The idea is very new and the material has been used was paper.

An in hindsight look at our concept layout for the artist residence, comparing it Schwitter's wall installation - the "crazy shapes and juxster positions" defiantly come through.

Moving the nets for the cube installation to Piccadilly Gardens and constructing the project on site. The cubes were then arranged together to create seating and to promote the interactive elements.

Some of our boxes contained handcrafted wind chimes. These were cut and assembled in the metal workshops, and then attatched to the boxes. this meant that as people moved and played with the cubes and their arrangements, they would sometimes here a light jingle of chimes.
Posted 22 May 2015 11:58
We went to the metal workshop and decided to change the initial idea of using metal pipes to cuboid rods, as this would better fit the angular form of the letters. The metal was cut and welded, now only what is left is to produce the molds for the concrete slabs.

Getting ready for final presentation..
Posted 22 May 2015 11:53
We decided to make a scale model of our proposed installation. This helped us discover the problems that needed to be addressed such as the creation of the shadows. A base needed to be added to the pipes so that the shadows are able to be cast onto the wall and not the floor. So we have decided to embed the pipes into concrete slabs.
Posted 22 May 2015 11:53
This is our group at the end of our day yesterday. We received a lot of interest from the public who joined in playing with and drawing on our installation, and considered the day a success.

Day two: Site Visit. Introduction into the potential sites; John Dalton, Mabel Tylecote or the Brooks building. Analysis of how the artefacts would engage with the buildings specific student group and weaving the object into the fabric of the building itself.

Collating construction process and creating presentation sheets.
Posted 22 May 2015 11:51
Our initial idea is to create a piece using metal pipes in a form that will create a shadow on the wall depicting the letters CPO. We thought the metal would symbolise the industrial sites that surround our area of investigation
Posted 22 May 2015 11:51
Day 5 - Construction
Once the foam had dried and been carved we spray painted the boards with black spray paint. We decide to cover it in fabric as a finish to cover up the imperfections in the foam. After this was complete we attatched the straps and connections. The great thing about this project was that it allowed us to experiment with materials and demonstrate other skills such sewing and working with fabric.

This is my amazing group with four members, two from first years and two second years. I very much enjoyed working with them as everyone was engaged and dedicated to the project even when we were out of university. We had great communication as everyone respected each other's opinions, understanding, and helpful with each other. I could not have asked for a better group. :)

Posted 22 May 2015 11:45
With the four unique sound waves produced and knotted to the frame for stability, we began to complete the structural frame. Adding wooden panels above and below our art piece would focus viewers directly on our art design, as opposed to the way it had been assembled.

Day 5
Ian came to visit us and review the progress so far, He was very pleased with the schemes we presented to him even though his original vision looked nothing like that.
Posted 22 May 2015 11:43
This is the final output. Apart from placing different amount of people on each facade to show the contrast of old and new community, we also aded strings on the first two stage interconnecting the people to show the close connection where as the other two sides contain all independent individuals and mostly working class. I really enjoyed making the model and happy about the way it turned out. I find the plan very interesting as the people stood up against each other and forms an imaginary picture.

Day one: Manchester Museum Visit. Investigation into historical artefact displays and the implementation of lighting to draw attention to the object. Noted the use of shock and use of additional objects in order to highlight the exhibition thus making it more memorable to the viewer.

Attaching the chiffon fabric to the nylon threads individually was a slow process. However, we had made a collective decision that we wanted to emphasise the delicate nature of our design, and only through the mass use of string could the effect be visible. This process of stitching was repeated for each new ‘wave’.
